Damping Powers

The requests for damping and driving characteristics of motorcycles are constantly increasing especially concerning the fork. Essentially it should, on the one hand run smoothly to balance on uneven soil and, on the other hand, be hard and irresistible while braking or riding over consecutive bumps. A critical press, intensive further developments and always stronger bikes define the higher standard. Not every newly presented motorcycle is able to do the splits between “smoothness” and “hardness” as asked by the demanding Road/Offroad market. Some motorbikes with only 5 figures on their speedometers often show fatigue in their chassis, while the rarely challenged engines could easily run for another 100.000 kilometres or more. After that time, the fork springs already lost some of their tension, the fork oils viscosity is reduced and the air chamber is often close to vanishing.

Only direct before-and-after comparisons reveal the differences. In Germany, safety standards and regulations for motorcycles are enforced by law. An insecure motorbike is most likely to be seriously fined.

Progressive Fork Springs
With progressive fork springs of Wilbers Racing Suspension bottoming out forks and sulky reaction are going to be history. Due to their construction they manage to take small road damages as easy as deep potholes or brutal braking manoeuvres. That is the result of our critical testing- and development procedures. We permanently test our bikes on racetracks like the “Nürburgring” or on the German autobahn. This provides us with the necessary experience of creating the ideal progressive fork spring. Not before all skilled test drivers are satisfied, a product is offered to the market. Wilbers progressive fork springs are resistant to wear off. They have a lifetime guarantee and a detailed installation manual. Together with the best fork oil and a precisely adjusted air chamber you can expect perfect results and unforgettable riding experiences.

Linear Fork Springs
Linear fork springs are THE alternative to progressive springs which are perfect for road use. Because on the racetrack what counts is effective adaptation and fast adjustment, and disputedly more simple with linear fork springs. Their repertoire might be smaller compared to progressive springs but in comparison to a bumpy country road, a racetrack is totally flat. At Wilbers even linear springs are machined of chrome-silicon-steel possessing a lifetime guarantee. Despite the linear fork spring a progressive compression force still originates from the air chamber.

The Right Choice of Oil

Only the best
The importance of the right choice of fork oil is often underestimated. As for Wilbers Racing Suspension forks, the ideal oil is delivered by the same provider. Our fork oil leaves no open questions concerning its damping abilities, gliding characteristics, constancy and sensitivity. Wilbers fork oil provides a loss of wear and is available in seven different SAE-classes. The higher the
SAE-class, the thicker the oil will be. Thus, the viscosity of the fork oil is another way to influence damping quality. A low-viscosity oil (SAE 5 or 7.5) will reduce damping. A high- viscosity oil (SAE 15 or 20) will increase damping. Now it’s clear, always use Wilbers oil!
